Welcome!

Wargear specializes in painting miniatures for wargaming and roleplaying, and creating realistic and attractive wargame terrain pieces, as well as providing a home on the web for whatever miniature gaming stuff I find interesting. This website originally started as a site to promote my miniatures painting side business, but it has grown to be a more general wargames, miniatures and RPG resource site which I hope will be helpful to all gamers!

Rackham Crossbowmen

Here's a couple quick pics of some Rackham Crossbowmen that I picked up at Origins last year. They've been sitting on the workbench since then, and I finally decided to make some progress on them!

I apologize for the quality of the pics - I've misplaced my good camera so these had to be taken with my little point and shoot.

More Coming Soon!
Been a long time before there's been any real content on this site - for whatever reason I was just not feeling like doing minis stuff in my free time. Well, now for whatever reason, I'm getting back into it. So look for updates over the next few days, including:
  • Pics of some Rackham minis I pickd way back in July at Origins
  • Pics of a large terrain piece I have in progress right now
So stay tuned! Hopefully I'll remember to get the pics when I get back home tonight.

Update

Well, as usual been too busy to give this site the time it deserves! I can't even remember the last time I painted any minis or worked on terrain. In the good old days I'd be approaching prime time for that sort of thing during the Christmas break, but these days I only get a few days off during the holidays. With a full time job plus a side business, not much time!

Plus it doesn't help that the new XBox 360 update came out - I'm not much of a console game, but the netflix tie-in is awesome - I've been watching Heroes that way, plus going through all sorts of odd stuff I've found and added to my instant queue.

And as usual after some time away I've gotten back into Hearts of Iron II - this time playing as the USSR in the TRP (The Realism Project) mod. I'd briefly tried the mod a while back, but my old computer just couldn't run it at a playable speed. The new one has no problem at all, so I thought I'd try it out.

My first try as Italy didn't go so well, and I burned out. Basically, I got sucked into war with Germany by an alliance with Yugoslavia. And the Allies weren't helping at all. I probably could have gotten a stalemate, but that's boring.

So I restarted as the USSR, always one of my favorites because you're a major power with lots of resources, and hardly any navy to screw around with. For some reason I have a hard time managing navies in the HoI2. This game is interesting - Germany initially got held up about a year before taking out France. Then, instead of turning on the USSR, they invaded the UK! Never see that before HoI. Bored, I decided to attack while they were busy with that.

It's 1945 and I've managed to take all of poland, and to knock Hungary out of the war. But Germany and I are more or less stalemated, and I've been working on taking Romania and Yuogslavia out of the war. One problem I had is that the tech tree is quite a bit different in the mod, and I found myself in 1945 with 1939 armor units! Not helpful for the offensive, that's for sure. So with some concentrated research perhaps I can finally break the stalemate and make the world red :)
